Shepherd’s Pie
Delicious baked all in one dish
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Minced turkey or beef
- 2 lb. Potatoes or sweet potatoes
- 1 medium onion minced
- 2 cups of vegetables mushrooms, peas, corn, etc.
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 stick butter
- 4 oz cream cheese
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ cup Worchester sauce
- 1-2 cup broth
- ¼ tsp thyme
- ¼ cup wine
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
Instructions
- Cut potatoes into cubes and boil for 15-20 minutes until fork tender. Drain. Add ½ stick butter and 4 oz cream cheese and ¼ tsp salt.
- Stir fry minced meat until partially cooked (5 mins)
- Add minced onion, garlic and fry for 5-7 mins.
- Add ½ stick butter and flour and mix thoroughly.
- Add 1 cup broth, wine, ketchup and Worchester sauce. Let it thicken.
- Add vegetables and ensure sauce thickens. If too thick, slowly add more broth.
- Use hand mixer to marsh potatoes mixture.
- Lightly oil baking dish and add meat with minimum liquid.
- Add marsh potatoes on top of the meat.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the potatoes.
- Bake in oven at 375 deg F for 30 minutes until potato layer becomes brown.
