Soy Sauce Chicken

Ingredients
  

  • 6 pc chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup light soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup cooking wine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 bulb garlic smashed
  • 3 oz ginger sliced
  • 3 pc star anise
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 2 pc orange peels (zest)
  • 1 tsp five spice powder
  • 1-2 tsp chicken bouillon
  • 1-2 cups water (depends on size of pot)

Instructions
 

  • Add ingredients into a pot and bring to boil: light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, wine, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, star anise, cinnamon, orange peels, five spice powder, bouillon and water.
  • Add chicken into the pot and let it simmer covered over low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Turn over the top pieces of chicken (above the broth) and simmer for another 15 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and let it soak for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken and let it rest for 20 minutes in a serving dish before serving. Serve with rice and some broth over the chicken.
  • Save the left-over broth for use next time.
