Soy Sauce Chicken
Ingredients
- 6 pc chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup light soy sauce
- 1/2 cup dark soy sauce
- 1/2 cup cooking wine
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 bulb garlic smashed
- 3 oz ginger sliced
- 3 pc star anise
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 2 pc orange peels (zest)
- 1 tsp five spice powder
- 1-2 tsp chicken bouillon
- 1-2 cups water (depends on size of pot)
Instructions
- Add ingredients into a pot and bring to boil: light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, wine, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, star anise, cinnamon, orange peels, five spice powder, bouillon and water.
- Add chicken into the pot and let it simmer covered over low heat for 15 minutes.
- Turn over the top pieces of chicken (above the broth) and simmer for another 15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let it soak for 30 minutes.
- Remove the chicken and let it rest for 20 minutes in a serving dish before serving. Serve with rice and some broth over the chicken.
- Save the left-over broth for use next time.
